I imagine just about anyone who has played sport at a junior level will have come across Mitre footballs (and indeed netballs, volleyballs and so forth…). Mitre have been involved in football for decades at all levels and are one of the few companies that have been able to compete not only on quality, but price and range too, culminating in their official Football League Revolve football – so what’s so special about this ball?
The Mitre Revolve football is one of the most technically advanced footballs ever produced. It has a special ‘microfibre’ outer layer that gives exceptional player control in all conditions. Some balls are only good in dry conditions, and others can be used in the wet, but are not so good in the dry, but Revolve has to be good in all conditions. Mitre’s cincap lining system and panel pattern ensures it retains perfect shape and accuracy with unmatched speed and power and has enabled the Revolve to attain FIFA Approved status.
What this means is that the Mitre Revolve football has passed FIFA’s seven stage testing program designed to identify the highest quality match footballs. All footballs seeking FIFA Approved or Inspected status must pass at least six tests (for Inspected status), and a final seventh test reserved only for the highest quality balls.
Each football is measured for circumference, sphericity, rebound, water absorption, weight, loss of pressure, and for Approved status only…shape and size retention.
All of which is designed to ensure that footballs such as the Mitre Revolve are as good as they should be.
